FAQ: About the Coalition for Metabolic Health (CMH)
What is the Coalition for Metabolic Health?
The Coalition for Metabolic Health (CMH) is a national alliance of researchers, clinicians, philanthropists, nonprofits, business leaders, and advocates dedicated to making metabolic health a foundation of healthcare in America. We are building a movement to prevent and reverse chronic disease by advancing science-based nutrition, reforming outdated medical practices, and reshaping public policy to prioritize metabolic well-being.
By advancing science, policy, education, clinical practice, and access, we aim to make metabolic health a foundational part of every American’s treatment plan.
Why was the Coalition created?
Chronic disease is the leading cause of death and disability in the United States—and it is largely preventable through dietary and lifestyle change that improves metabolism. CMH was created to address the root cause of chronic disease — poor metabolic health — by promoting therapeutic nutrition, reforming dietary guidelines, supporting unbiased research, and raising public awareness of effective, food-based interventions.
Who funds the Coalition?
CMH is seed-funded by the Baszucki family, whose philanthropic commitment to advancing metabolic health extends beyond the work of Baszucki Group. Their financial support makes CMH’s education, awareness, and convening efforts possible.
To maintain full independence and avoid conflicts of interest, CMH does not accept any funding from for-profit companies or industries, including pharmaceutical or food corporations. We are supported by mission-aligned philanthropy committed to systemic health reform.
Is the Coalition politically affiliated?
CMH is nonpartisan. We work to advance science-based policies that put people—not politics—first. Metabolic health is a universal issue that transcends ideology.
What policies does the Coalition advocate for?
- We advocate for:
- Nutrition education reform in medical schools and continuing education
- Dietary guidelines free of industry influence
- Integration of metabolic screening into standard medical care
- Access to metabolic monitoring devices like continuous glucose and ketone monitors
- Research investment in therapeutic nutrition
- Agricultural subsidy reform and food labeling to support whole, nutrient-dense foods
- Reimbursement of medical nutrition therapy and medically tailored meals
Does the Coalition conduct or fund research?
CMH is not a research institute, but we advocate for independent, scientific research on metabolic health, therapeutic nutrition, and dietary interventions like low-carb and ketogenic approaches that reverse insulin resistance. Our goal is to fill gaps left by traditional funding sources and bring effective interventions into the mainstream.
