Andréa C. Salcedo
Dr. Andrea Salcedo, an Obstetrics and Gynecology surgeon and clinical researcher at Loma Linda University, advances women’s health by investigating how metabolic dysfunction and insulin resistance contribute to gynecologic disorders such as endometriosis and uterine fibroids. Motivated by dissatisfaction with the standard treatment approach to endometriosis, Dr. Salcedo began investigating the root causes of disease in women’s health. She questioned conventional reliance on hormonal and surgical solutions and uncovered metabolic factors contributing to conditions such as heavy menstrual bleeding, uterine fibroids, and endometriosis. This led her to develop an evidence-based approach that integrates metabolic modalities into the treatment of these chronic gynecologic disorders. She has published several peer-reviewed articles in this novel field of insulin resistance and abnormal uterine bleeding. She is a strong advocate for root-cause–based treatment and patient-centered care.
