Dr. Andrew P. Koutnik, Ph.D. is an award-winning research scientist recognized for his leadership in diabetes and chronic disease research at the intersection of nutrition and metabolism​. Dr. Koutnik’s work has been backed by over $70 million in funding from the National Institutes of Health, Department of Defense, United States Special Operations Command, Office of Naval Research, and Defense Advanced Research Project Agency resulting in over 100 peer-reviewed publications and international presentations in collaborations with international experts in metabolic health, including co-author the first international healthcare guidelines for therapeutic carbohydrate reduction in juvenile diabetes. Dr. Koutnik is a multi-time award recipient of NASA NEEMO and USF Research Awards, Presidential Fellowship Awardee, and Academy of Inventors Inductee, receiving recognitions from the Physiologic Society, Health Equity Action Network, and Endocrine Society. Dr. Koutnik has lived-experience as a chronic disease patient reversing his childhood obesity and effectively managing a Juvenile Diabetes diagnosis for over 17 years.
