Mark Cucuzzella

Dr. Cucuzzella is a Professor at West Virginia University and a 29-year retired U.S. Air Force primary care physician and flight surgeon with extensive experience serving veterans and military personnel as well as his community. He has published widely on obesity, diabetes, and metabolic health.

• Leonard W. Kidd Memorial American Legion Post 2001 Physician of the Year 2024 award for outstanding service and dedication to the veteran community in Northern Virginia. Presented by Congressman Suhas Subramanyam, Virginia’s 10th Congressional District
• Marine Corps Marathon Hall of Fame 2018- recognized for excellence in this historic and international running event
• Distinguished Mountaineer Award from the Governor of West Virginia March 2013- awarded for service to the state and his community
