Current: Author and international speaker on ketogenic strategies for aging, Alzheimer’s, and other neurological disorders. Certified Ketogenic Nutrition Specialist since 2019.
Past: Practiced neonatology (newborn intensive care) in South Florida from 1983 to 1987. Founding medical director of neonatal intensive care units at Mease Health Care System, Dunedin, FL, 1987-2003, and Spring Hill Regional Hospital, Spring Hill, FL, 2003-2013. Former volunteer clinical faculty, department of Pediatrics University of South Florida, 2004-2013. Hospice care attending physician (in-home and hospice care centers) from 2014 to 2016. Performed in-home health risk assessments for Medicare and Medicaid from 2017 to 2022. Caregiver for husband with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease for 15 years.

Dr. Mary T. Newport, MD is a board-certified pediatrician and neonatologist with extensive clinical experience in newborn intensive care. She completed her medical degree at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, and a Neonatal-Perinatal Fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina. A Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics since 1984, Dr. Newport is also a recognized author and speaker on ketogenic therapies for brain health and neurodegenerative conditions. She has published four books: Alzheimer’s Disease: What If There Was a Cure? The Story of Ketones (2011, 2013, 2023); The Coconut Oil and Low Carb Solution for Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and Other Diseases (2015); The Complete Book of Ketones: A Practical Guide to Ketogenic Diets and Ketone Supplements (2019); Clearly Keto for Health Brain Aging and Alzheimer’s Prevention (2022). Dr. Newport is widely regarded for her work exploring nutrition and ketones in the prevention and treatment of Alzheimer’s and other neurological disorders.
