Susan A. Masino
Susan A. Masino, PhD is the Paul E. Raether Distinguished Professor of Applied Science at Trinity College. Her neuroscience research focuses on ketogenic diet, brain health, and disorders such as epilepsy, autism and pain. Major interests include the neuromodulator adenosine, a molecule with neuroprotective, antiseizure and epigenetic properties, and the relationship between brain metabolism and behavior.
In parallel with her laboratory-based neuroscience research, she was a Charles Bullard Research Fellow at Harvard University on forests and brain health and collaborated with a climate scientist and an ecologist on the seminal paper on proforestation. Dr. Masino is involved in protecting and advocating for the farmland, forests, and clean water in her community and publishing research and policy papers on the importance of natural forest ecosystems as our collective ecological lifelines.
